The Westboro Baptist Church, best known for their slogan "God Hates Fags" and for their extremist Christian values, have selected their next target - the recently deceased King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
“Michael 'Wacko Jacko' Jackson is in hell!” begins the official statement on the website, GodHatesFags.com, as reported by SameSame.
The statement goes on to state that members of the Church will picket Jackson's funeral "to remind you to stop worshiping the dead".
"We will be there to tell you to thank God for the death of this filthy, adulterous, idolatrous, gender-confused, nationality-confused, unthankful brute beast. We will be there to remind you that God Killed Wacko Jacko.”
The statement continues to urge Jackson fans to “stop worshiping this silly human".
"Each penny you spend to try to buy your way into that event [Jackson's funeral] will burn your flesh throughout all of eternity.”
The concept of picketing a funeral is nothing new to the Church, lead by Fred Phelps. In the past, they have picketed the funeral of Australian actor Heath Ledger (on account of his role in Brokeback Mountain), as well as the funeral of Gordon B. Hinckley, the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and even the funeral of Matthew Shepard, a student at the University of Wyoming who was beaten to death at the age of 21 on account of his homosexuality.
