The FBI announced that they are not conducting an investigation into Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, contrary to reports online.
Over the weekend, reports spread throughout blogs and political forums that Governor Palin resigned because she was the subject of a federal investigation.
"Normally, we don't
confirm or deny those kind of allegations out there. But, by not doing so, it just casts her in a very bad light," said FBI Special Agent Eric Gonzalez, "There is just no truth to those rumors out there in the blogosphere."
On Friday, Palin announced her resignation as governor of Alaska by the end of the month, causing a media firestorm. The reason behind that decision was unclear, leading to speculation online of criminal activity. It is now widely believed by pundits that the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee will now seek the presidency in 2012.
