Another U.S. drone attack in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region has killed at least thirteen people and injured a dozen others in an escalated operation to kill Taliban insurgents.
According to Intelligence officials, a U.S. drone has fired missiles into Pakistan’s South Waziristan region, which is on the Afghanistan border, killing at least thirteen people and injuring dozens of others.
The drone, like majority of the other drones, was reportedly targeting insurgent hideouts in the region where U.S. troops are conducting operations against militants. The missiles were fired into an area that is allegedly controlled by Pakistani militant leader Baitullah Mehsud.
In a report published by Reuters, more than fifty insurgents and Pakistani soldiers have been killed over the last 24 hours in northwestern Pakistan.
Since Pres. Obama’s inaugration, U.S. drones have escalated the violence in Pakistan. These drone missiles are said to be aimed at militants however, Pakistan media have claimed that only one in six have actually targeted Taliban insurgents.
