The move, which signals Hulu's first international presence outside of the United States, will provide Brits with commercially supported TV shows and movies online.
The site, which has risen to the second biggest video provider in the US behind YouTube since launching in March 2007, confirmed they are talking to British TV networks, but none have so far signed any deals.
We are talking to everyone. The UK is our number one priority in terms of international expansion. We are very interested in the UK. We hope in the very near future we will have some plans to reveal for the UK,
Johannes Larcher, senior vice president of Hulu International told the UK Telegraph.
The confirmation which came at the Future of Broadcasting conference held in central London, left the UK still without a launch date although its believed Hulu is still pushing for early September.
The British site will be a localised version of the US site, in the hope that users won't perceive the company on the basis of its US counterpart.
Hulu offers those in the United States streaming TV shows and movies with commercials from networks including NBC and Fox, and allows users to embed the videos in other websites.
