A teenage girl has survived the Yemenia plane crash. She was one of the only survivors. It is very miraculous that she survived and is alive and well.
The plane crashed on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. It had been listed as her being the only survivor to the plane crash. Most of the people on the plane were from Comoros. It said that she was ejected out of the plane. She survived by clinging onto the wing of the plane that was left. She was clinging to it in the ocean. It was dark. Other people were screaming. She clung to the plane's wing for 13 hours. Her name is Bahia Bakari.
People were very surprised that she survived. It is being called a miracle. Her father had said that she could barely swim. He was surprised that she was able to do all of that. When they came to rescue her she couldn't reach out to get the rescue equipment ring that they sent over to her. A guy had to go over to get her. She was too weak to be able to reach out and get it. The time to hang onto the plane wing must have been very difficult.
There had been a problem with the plane. People were complaining that the French authorities had not told them about a problem that could have been happening on the plane. They seem to think that it could have been prevented.
She must have been very scared waiting there in the water for a rescue. There would be no way to know that someone would actually come. All one would be able to do would be to hope that a rescue would be coming. There would be no way to know also of what dangers you could be facing from being out in the water like that. There could be sharks and it must have been a horrific experience. She will be flown back to a hospital in Paris.
The girl's mother was on the plane also and did not survive. She has asked for her and at that time was not told yet that her mother is dead. It is too bad that the other people were not able to survive the plane crash. There must have been nothing to do to be able to help and in the dark. French authorities do say that the black box has been found to the plane. That should have information to show what happened to the plane. It seems to have gone down in a storm.
