MORONI – A passenger plane carrying 153 people on board has crashed into the fitful waters in the center of the Indian Ocean.
Airbus A310-300 was flying from Sanaa, Yemen to Moroni, the capital of the main island of the Comoros archipelago. However, due to bad weather the plane lost control and plunge to the sea.
Mohammad al-Sumairi, deputy general manager for Yemenia operations described the weather as "rough" and that wind speed recorded on land at the airport was 61 km (38 miles) an hour.
According to reports, the exact location of the air bus is yet to be known but it had been suspected to be in the area of Mitsamiouli.
Two French military planes and a French ship are summoned to aid the search and rescue operations.
