After almost six months away from his top job at Apple, Steve Jobs is now officially back at work, Apple says, following a liver transplant in Tennesse.
Jobs has been on medical leave for six months since January, and will reportedly only work a few days per week but will continue to work from home the rest of the time says Steve Dowling, a spokesman for Apple.
“Steve is back to work,” he reportedly told Bloomberg. “We are very glad to have him back.”
Dowling refused to say if Jobs was in his office at Apple today, and also refused to comment on whether or not Apple would release information on the Jobs' health or future duties.
Speculation was rife when Jobs initially took the medical leave, with many saying he was taking the time off to focus on recovering from a hormone imbalance. However earlier this month reports surfaced saying Jobs had undergone a liver transplant at a Tennessee hospital, which the hospital itself later confirmed.
Tim Cook, Chief Operating Officer, took over Steve's role at Apple while he was away, whilst Phil Schiller, Senior Vice President of Marketing, overtook the keynotes and speeches. Some have said that Jobs' absence has allowed others to shine in positions they otherwise would never have been in for a while yet.
