CARACAS, Venezuela – Following President Hugo Chavez' threats on closing the TV network Globovision, which is the remaining anti-Chavez media institution.
Thousands of Venezuelan activist marched to the Venezuelan Journalistic College to express their support with the opposition-labeled news network.
Just recently, the government engage itself with confrontations against Globovision. Similarly, the president himself asked that the executive officers of the network reflect on their tough, "one-sided" criticisms of the administration. If not, he advised them to be ready for an immediate shut down.
Meanwhile, pro-Chavez activist also held a protest of their own, showing their support with the governments actions.
In 2002, a short-lived coup was discovered following that Chavez dogmatically declared that Globovision together with other private networks were involved in the conspiracy, helping the perpetrators in their cause.
Since then, Globovision add up with the controversies and criticisms in line with the administration's policy.
