Lisa Marie Presley on Jackson: 'He Said He Would Die Like Elvis'

Lisa Marie Presley declares she and Michael Jackson were in love. She said she left the marriage because of his personal problems and quoted him as saying he would likely die like Elvis.

In the aftermath of the death of Michael Jackson, eulogies have been quoted from all sorts of public figures. There was no one more intimate with Jackson, according to a former wife, Lisa Presley, than she was. That intimacy brought pain and understanding she had to leave a relationship due to Michael Jackson's problems and the entourage that surrounded him. On her blog on My Space, she writes about her relationship with the famous entertainer and what happened along the way. This is an excerpt from that blog:

Years ago Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life in general.

I can't recall the exact subject matter but he may have been questioning me about the circumstances of my Fathers Death.

At some point he paused, he stared at me very intensely and he stated with an almost calm certainty, "I am afraid that I am going to end up like him, the way he did."

I promptly tried to deter him from the idea, at which point he just shrugged his shoulders and nodded almost matter of fact as if to let me know, he knew what he knew and that was kind of that.

Elvis Presley died suddenly in 1977. Fans said then they were shocked as well. People commiserated on the life of Elvis and told of warnings about his drug problem his close friends had talked about. There was conjecture he died from a heart problem. Toxicology reports found later, however, that Presley had been taking large quantities of drugs given to him by a number of physicians. The conclusion was these drugs were part of what killed the fabled entertainer. Priscilla Presley spoke after the death of her husband in similar words and tones as her daughter did yesterday over CNN when she was quoted as saying she left Elvis Presley because of his personal problems. Priscilla spoke of the difficulties Elvis Presley had faced, but took responsibility for his estate on behalf of her daughter who inherited the Presley estate. Like Michael Jackson there were concerns about the financial status of that estate, and folks talked about how it had been depleted by Elvis' lavish lifestyle and those around him who were described in those days as hangers'on. Did Michael Jackson die like he predicted? He admitted to drugs and addicition to painkillers. He admitted to drinking alcohol on a regular basis. Early accounts following his death talked of cardiac arrest and a heart attack possible. Conjectures have been made about the relationship between heart attacks and over-use of certain multiple medications.
