Madonna has secured the number one position atop Forbes' annual Top-Earning Musicians list, beating out acts such as Celine Dion, Beyonce, AC/DC and Coldplay for the top spot with a gross of $110 million.
The 50-year-old singer spent most of last year on her Sticky & Sweet tour, promoting her latest record Hard Candy. The album sold more than 100,000 copies on its first day of release, and took the number one chart position in over thirty countries. Her involvement with Louis Vuitton is also believed to be a significant part of the gross revenue, according to the official Forbes online slideshow.
Coming in second was Canadian singer Celine Dion, earning $100 million from her first full-scale tour since ending her Las Vegas show. Beyonce Knowles took the bronze for her various projects; including the hugely successful I Am...Sasha Fierce record, its subsequent world tour, starring in two films and adding a wealth of new sponsors.
