Despite controversies, specifically the ethics complaint regarding the alleged overpriced C-5 road extension project, senator Manny Villar once again stood as the richest senator of the Philippines. According to abscbnnews.com, Villar, the country's top real estate developer reported a net worth of P 1.046 billion. (roughly $21.7 million) Although his net worth already suggests a vast amount of riches, it's still quite an enigma given the fact that in the 2008 issue of the Forbes magazines top 40 richest Filipinos. He ranks at 11th place with an estimated net worth of $425 million. Likewise Villar's wife, congresswoman Cynthia Villar registered a a net worth of P1.047 billion -- a million more than that of senator Villar. Rep. Villar who reported not having any liabilities, is the sole billionaire amongst all the lower house legislators. On the other hand, the poorest amongst all the senators is senator and Magdalo leader Antonio Trillanes who purports P2.9 million of net worth. The least wealthiest congressman is Anakpawis Rep. Rafael Mariano, who reported P55,501.72 -- about $1,150. (yes, 1,150 USD)
