A bar owner in sunny Spain has come up with a new way to handle the tensions and frustrations of every day life and economic recession by encouraging his patrons to insult his wait staff. Don Rickles, where are you?
According to
news sources, Polish-born bar owner, Bernard Mariusz, feels he is filling a very important need in people who enter the Casa Pocho bar in the southern town of Cullera near Valencia by encouraging them to insult his staff. As a bonus, he offers free drinks for abuse that is original, hilarious or over the top.
In the words of one patron, Antonio Ossa:
“When you come in after work, you can say swear at them and call them bastard or imbecile.”
Bernard feels he is providing a service far beyond the call of beer, wine and bar peanuts. In these difficult times a release of frustration via the Spanish language’s rich supply of obscenities goes much further than the momentary buzz of libation, or at least that’s the plan. In his words:
“That way they won't let it out on their family.”
Well, I don’t know.
