As a pesky fly insisted on getting in on an interview with President Obama, the president had enough. He tried to chase it away by waving his hand and then he killed it.
President Obama was being interviewed at the White House by CNBC correspondent John Harwood. While the president was speaking a fly decided to see what was going on by buzzing around his head.
The annoying fly was told by the president, "Get out of here. " The fly refused to leave and decided instead to either take a rest or have a front row seat on the president's left forearm. President Obama then lifted up his hand and smacked the fly who fell over dead.
Without so much as missing a beat Obama said, "Now, where were we?" He then added, "That was pretty impressive, wasn't it? I got the sucker."
After asking the if the cameras wanted to film the fly he continued with the interview.
After People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals(PETA) heard about it they called it an "execution."
PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said, "We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals. We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals.”
A Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap an insect and then release it outside is being sent to President Obama by PETA.
