Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei ordered investigation on the alleged vote rigging during the recently held election as thousands of supporters of presidential hopeful Mousavi gathered into the center of Iran to denounce the alleged vote rigging.
A few hours after Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei ordered a probe on the alleged vote rigging during the recently held national election, thousands of supporters of former Prime Minister Mir Hossein Mousavi have gathered into the center of Tehran in protest of the alleged vote rigging and in support of the probe ordered by the supreme leader.
Earlier, Ayatollah Khamenei
urged the nation to unite behind the Iranian president and called the election result as ‘divine assessment’.
The stunning turnaround by the supreme leader came after Mousavi appealed to the Guardian Council, a high-level clerical panel, and after meeting with Khamenei, who holds almost limitless power over Iranian affairs.
Khamenei has directed the council to look into the election fraud after meeting with the former Prime Minister who claimed that he is the rightful winner in the recently held national election. There are few details on how the investigation will proceed.
