Chaz, 40, just started the process this year to honor his true identity.

Chastity Bono has been open about her sexuality since 1998 when she wrote about being a lesbian. She came out of the closet at the age of 18 to her family. Her famous mother Cher did not take the news well.
US magazine reports the singer's reaction at that time:
"I'd always had this idea that she would get married and have a family," Cher said at the time.
Since that time over 20 years ago Cher and her daughter have gone closer. Chastity Bono has become an American LGBT rights advocate and writer.
