A new report out today from Harvard University shows that 10% of all active users on Twitter are responsible for 90% of all tweets.
The
study also found that on average men on Twitter have 15% more followers than females, and that men are twice as likely to follow other men rather than women.
The report, for which data was gathered during May this year, found that there are more women using Twitter than males:
"We found that men comprise 45% of Twitter users, while women represent 55%."
Unsurprisingly their results also show that almost 80% of users have at least one follower, as well as pointing out that the median of lifetime tweets is one, meaning roughly half of all users tweet less than once every 74 days.
Twitter has recently come under scrutiny over a wave of surveys showing that users don't hang around for very long after signing up, and that the service struggles to keep the majority of users tweeting.
