A small-town newspaper in Warren, Pennsylvania has apologized for running a classified advertisement calling for the assassination of US President Barack Obama.
The said advertisement that appeared in the Warren Times Observer last Thursday reads ""May Obama follow in the steps of Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy!" -- four former US presidents who were all assassinated.
Associated Press reports that Warren Times Observer Publisher John Elchert says newspaper's advertising staff didn't make the historical connection.
He claimed the northwestern Pennsylvania newspaper gave information to police and that the Secret Service is investigating the person who placed the ad.
The Friday's paper includes a note that says the newspaper "apologizes for the oversight."
