A Tennessee man set a dubious record in the U.S. for fathering 21 children with 11 different women. The man recently told the court that he “was done with children”.
This would have been no news if Desmond Hatchett, 29, was not brought to court for non-payment of child support. The authorities soon discovered that he has 21 children with 11 women.
Hatchett said he had no intention to set a record; he says “it just happened”.
As far as parenting more children, he assured the authorities that he was done with children.
Hatchett met with reporters outside the court and said he knows all the names and ages of his children, who range from a few months old to 11 years old.
Regarding the child support, the authorities are planning to take half of his monthly salary, which is just the minimum wage ($6.55 an hour).
Since he cannot fully support his children, the Tennessee state government will support them, according to his lawyer Keith Pope.
The authorities are worried more women might come forward after Hatchett appeared on the news and local TV. He allegedly boasted to them about having fathered four children with four different women in the same year.
Hatchett claims the women involved knew that he had other children.
