An interviewed eyewitness becomes a surprise Internet celebrity partly due to her politically incorrect eyewitness report.
The 19 year old witness to a shooting incident found herself the centre of attention of either an appalled or amused audience. Unaware that her account provided derogatory descriptions, the attractive outspoken woman frankly recounted the shooting incident at the scene of the shooting to TV camera crews.
Her account included these statements recorded on video:
-
"There were these two wogs fighting, -- and the fatter wog said to the skinnier wog, 'Oi bro, you slept with my cousin'.
-
"And the other one said 'Nah man, I didn't for s***, ehy' and the other one goes, 'I will call on my fully sick boys, ehy'.
-
"And then they pulled out a gun and they just went chk chk BOOM. "
The term "
wog" is an ethnic slur used in Australia in the 1950s to denote immigrants from Southern or Eastern European origins. However the term has gained a less uncomplimentary meaning and an affectionate or neutral substance in the past couple of decades. Nevertheless, the word is still considered offensive by a lot of Australians and can still be used as an ethnic insult.
The term "
wog" along with the allusion to the sizes to remarkably distinguish the participants in the shooting altercation, has made the eyewitness interview quite distinctive.
The video of the interview has resulted in more than 100,000 views, t-shirts quoting her account, various online satire, as well as a Facebook fan base "
Clare the Kings Cross bogan fan club".
Clare is the name of the witness, Kings Cross is the popular Sydney nightspot where the incident happen, and '
bogan' is an Australian term for someone of uncultured upbringing.
Due to the attention generated by her eyewitness account, Clare has employed the services of a PR agency to manage the calls she has been getting as well as her newly found fame
