No prison for Dad who tried to hire prostitute for teen son

By Chris V. Thangham     May 16, 2009 in Crime
A father escaped a prison sentence after he tried to hire a prostitute for his son. The British judge let him go because of his good record.
The Polish father wanted to surprise his 14-year-old son by hiring a prostitute as a "virginity" gift. So he cruised with his son and went looking for prostitutes in the red-light district of Nottingham in central England.
The father let the son pick up his own prostitute. The son, however, chose an undercover police officer acting as a prostitute. The police immediately arrested the 42-year-old father.
The judge in the case was lenient and let the father escape the prison sentence. The judge believes the father meant no harm when doing this act.
Judge Jonathan Teare told the father during the trial that he is giving a suspended 10-month sentence for a year because of his excellent character.
He said: “You have a duty of care to your son and that is to look after his moral welfare, not as you might think to break him in to the ways of sex through a prostitute.”
The judge also allowed the teen to continue to live with his father.
