Gmail has added a simple migration tool that allows users to easily switch to Gmail from other email providers such as Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, AOL Mail and from internet email accounts with Verizon, Comcast, EarthLink and more.
Previously, Gmail allowed migration from other email accounts with a “mail fetcher” tool, but they only worked with email accounts that allowed “POP forwarding."
The new tool powered by “TrueSwitch” allows easy migration from several email account providers. You can migrate all your email messages, as well as contacts, with a simple tool available for all new Gmail accounts. This tool is available only on a limited basis for existing Gmail accounts but will become available for everyone in the near future.
With this simple tool, you can migrate to Gmail from Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL Mail and from internet email providers such as Verizon, Comcast, EarthLink and more.
How to Migrate to Gmail from Other Email Accounts:
In Gmail, go to Settings > Account and Import and click “Import mail and contacts." Enter your email account details and the new tool will help you transfer all your emails as well as contacts without any additional steps.
You can import contacts, import old mail and import any new mail for the next 30 days.
The “True Switch” migration tool also offers similar migration procedures to Yahoo and Hotmail from various email accounts.
The migration will take up to two days depending on the amount of messages in your mail box.
