By Carol Forsloff     May 11, 2009 in Entertainment
A news story shows insight into how the overnight stardom has affected Susan Boyle. She has been so overwhelmed with the publicity that she turned down an invitation to the Correspondents Dinner with President Barack Obama.
President Obama is said to be as impressed as the rest of Susan Boyle’s fans, with the list still growing via YouTube where the hits on her video clips are said to be in the many millions. She was given an invitation to the Correspondents Dinner from a number of American TV Networks but turned them down in favor of staying home with her cat Pebbles, washing her hair and watching Britain’s Got Talent on television.
This behavior, sources say, on the part of Susan Boyle reflects the fact that fame hasn’t changed her. She continues to live a simple life in small town of Blackburn, West Lothian in Scotland.
“Things just got hairy” is the news headline that relates Susan Boyle’s turndown of the request that she attend the Correspondents Dinner where one of her fan’s, President Obama, would have been on hand to greet her. She is related as saying she wants to meet the President and sing for him and that she believes he is doing a good job so far.

Since the April show Boyle has been on American television talk shows, filmed right from Scotland, since her audition on Britain’s Got Talent where her rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables created a worldwide sensation for her voice and stunning talent. She has continued to receive a number of offers to do movies and to meet famous people. She declares she looks forward to meeting and singing for the Queen.
It appears that in spite of all the fame and requests to do special things, such as singing with her hero Elaine Paige and having a dinner date with Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan, Susan Boyle is waiting for her next appearance. Whistle Down the Wind and There’s a Place for Us are two tunes that folks speculate she might use for her next performance on Britain’s Got Talent. In the meantime her public waits, as Susan Boyle continues her simple life that folks say she is doing rather than attending special events where likely she would be a valued addition to the list of attendees.
