By KJ Mullins     May 8, 2009 in Science
Stephen Hawking's planned visit for Waterloo, Ontario is on hold while he recovers from a chest infection. Best known for his work on black holes and General Relativity with Quantum Theory, Hawking is one of the top scientific minds of our time.
Hawking was to visit the Perimeter Institute during the summer and give at least one lecture open to the public.
Last November Hawking took a research post at the Ontario center and was expected to begin making regular visits starting this summer.
CBC reports:
"Stephen is hugely supportive of Perimeter Institute, and he is as disappointed as we are that his visit has to be postponed. But for now, we must be patient and wish him a speedy recuperation," Turok said in a statement Thursday evening.
Hawking, already weak from ALS was hospitalized in April because of the chest infection.
