More investigations urged on alleged Israeli war crimes

The Palestine Return Center (PRC) expresses deep satisfaction towards the UN resolution regarding Gaza War issued on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.

London, May 6 (Pal Telegraph)-Palestine Return Center (PRC) considered the resolution of slamming Israel responsibility as a step in the right track, and aspiring it would be put into practice. PRC reminds people of decisions being intentionally marginalized by Israel in regard of the right of a Palestinian nation. As part of its denial for UN resolutions, international charter of human rights and humanitarian law, Israel continues to deny all these resolutions, reckoning it's a country above all laws. The continued Israeli denial leads to more repressive measures against occupied territories. The last Israeli denial tried obviously to debunk clear facts included by a UN report in which Israel was directly claimed of attacking its compounds intentionally causing severe damage. The report referred to the successive Israeli attack on UNRWA compound, schools and individuals in time of Gaza war. Within the report, Israel was found blamed for at least seven direct attacks. The attacks were carried out using banned weapons like the phosphorous bombs which hit a UN school and the UNRWA HQ. The attacks appeared on a report for channel 4 in the UK. The attacks were reported by most media outlets, indicating many people were killed at places like El Fakhura School, which is a UN school. The school was taken as a shelter by Palestinians who fled their houses from the northern Gaza areas but Israeli air strike hit it leaving around 45 dead. The UN compound and food stockpile were attacked depot in Gaza was hit with Israeli artillery shells causing widespread damage. The UN report, commissioned by Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary-general, said the Israeli military intentionally fired at UN facilities and civilians hiding in them during the war and used disproportionate force. The report's summary accused the Israeli army of "varying degrees of negligence or recklessness with regard to United Nations premises and to the safety of UN staff and other civilians within those premises, with consequent deaths, injuries and extensive physical damage and loss of property." Israel announced previously it would not co-operate with a separate UN Human Rights Council investigation into alleged war crimes during the assault on the Gaza Strip. Additionally, it has rejected to deal with Spanish court regarding interrogations against some Israeli leaders. Based on the above, the PRC calls on the UN for further investigations into war crimes that have been committed by IDF in Gaza. It further appeals to the International community to put pressure on Israel for it to abide by all UN resolutions which have always asserted the rights of Palestinians to self determination and freedom from any occupation.
