article imageSexy, Seductive Underwear Recession’s Big Loser

By Carol Forsloff     Apr 22, 2009 in Lifestyle
The saddest cut of the recession just might be in women’s bottom line. Today panties won’t bring panting, because women seek practical underwear during recessions. Practical underwear has become more important than sexy, silky, seductive stuff.
Victoria Secret had a secret to success people thought. But that secret of Victoria’s hasn’t helped the giant of sexy underwear survive well during this recession. Those high-priced bras and thong panties at better-than-average prices are now traded for those all-time cotton panties or bloomers that gals used to wear. It is comfort, good wear and price that make the difference these days.
Another thing on the scene is that Victoria Secret’s “Angel Secret Embrace” bra. Apparently there is a chemical in the bra that has caused women to break out in hives, itch and become very uncomfortable, or at least that’s what is suspected. As a result, there is a class action suit against this famous giant of the sexy underwear and lingerie industry.
Years ago counselors told women that to maintain interest in sex with their mates, a woman should even greet the mate at the door wearing sexy underwear. These days being sexy might mean something else. In the movies and television a long, white man’s shirt over underwear wss thought to be sexy for some, as in Elizabeth Taylor movies and those with Susan Sarandon, because in films that was often the breakfast or nighttime scene. So what’s really the scene today one wonders, when sexy underwear might not be enticements while women look for practical options for seductions and feeling sexy and silky under the covers.
So instead of silky, sheer, sexy underwear with uplift bras and bikini bottoms what are women buying? Granny underwear is back in business. Maidenform underwear tops Victoria’s Secret and is appearing in a WalMart near you, says the news. Credit card woes has reached female consumers who aren’t buying expensive underwear anymore and are opting for better buys.
What will women be counseled to do these days to keep their husbands interested? Maybe it will be back to Elizabeth Taylor-type oversize shirts over some little cotton pantie that will be practical, cost less and still be sexy too. .
