Pop star Madonna was tossed to the ground on Saturday when her horse was spooked by the paparazzi photographers while she was riding on a Hamptons estate in New York's Long Island. She has been treated by the doctors for “minor injuries and bruises."
Madonna’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, reportedly said that the 50-year-old pop singer was tossed to the ground when her horse was frightened by the paparazzi photographers “who jumped out of the bushes”. Madonna was reportedly visiting friends in the Hamptons, a popular holiday destination for the rich.
According to a report published in the New York Post, Madonna fell down when she was performing jumps wearing a helmet in front of a group of around ten people. Her rumored boyfriend Jesus Luz, 22, and her two sons Rocco, eight, and three-year-old David Banda were with her at the time.
Rosenberg said Madonna was admitted to a hospital in Southampton and was later released. She will be having further tests and will be monitored by the doctors.
It is still unknown whether the accident took place in a private property and paparazzi photographers were trespassing in the incident. Police did not make any comment till Sunday morning, a report said.
Notably, it was the second tumble after she suffered horse-riding accident in the summer of 2005 in England, which left her with three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand. A couple of months later she got back again on a horse for an appearance in "Late Show with David Letterman" on CBS. During that occasion she said: "I have a bit of excitement tainted with fear."
Earlier this month Madonna returned from Malawi after she failed to adopt a 3-year-old girl from the country when a judge from Malawi unexpectedly refused Madonna’s application on the grounds that Madonna is not a resident of the African country. Her lawyer has reportedly appealed against the judge's ruling.
