Oprah sets the Twitterverse agog with a single line of tweet. That's celeb power punched with Oprah charisma as within minutes a herd of Oprah fans trampled through cyberspace hanging on to her every syllable.
The title sums up the story. April 17th was Twitter's big day when Oprah decided to come and join the Twitter bandwagon. It wasn't groundbreaking...it wasn't scandalous...it was just a greeting but within 15 minutes of her first tweet she had garnered
76,000 followers on the social web service.
Four hours later the site registered
125,000 avid followers. Minions of a modern day 'apostle' wouldn't be a far fetched surmise.
But it does prove the hype of both Twitter and Oprah. Both are current day phenomenons.
In her first ever tweet Oprah
said,
""HI TWITTERS . THANK YOU FOR A WARM WELCOME. FEELING REALLY 21st CENTURY"
No, that's not a typo - she put all the caps in in a manner going against the Twitter vernacular. Her good friend Shaquille O'Neal quick to point out the error. Like all of us it will be a learning curve for her too and with her communication chutzpah, it surely won't take her long.
For all its popularity, an Oprah hubba-hubba would hype it up all the more. A wondrous achievement for a company still green with 30 odd employees.
