Twenty-six-year old Jerly Lyngdoh from Meghalaya, northern India, looks like any other toddler until he opens his mouth to reveal a full set of teeth! Read on and learn more about this astonishing and very rare medical condition.
According to news sources, Jerly Lyngdoh lives with his farmer parents in northern India, and from all outward appearances looks like any normal two year old. He measures 33-inches tall and weighs 22 pounds. This young man, through no fault of his own, is the world’s oldest baby, as he was born with a bizarre condition experts believe is caused by secreting growth hormone glands that have somehow been damaged.
In the words of Dr. J. Ryndong:
“Jerly's infantile features are remarkable, and the only thing he shares with an adult are his teeth. We think this is a case of pan-hypo pituitarism leading to poor secretion of growth hormones from the pituitary gland. He is a genuine rarity.”
The parents of the twenty-six year old man still dress him in baby clothes and Jerly is totally dependant on them. Their six other children are all normal, which rules out genetics as a cause for this condition. A charitable society has granted financial aid to his mother, Merilda, to transport Jerly to the capital's Shillong Civil Hospital, where he has received treatment for the last 17 months.
Jerly measures up at just four inches taller than China's He Pingping, who is officially the world's smallest man. For this young man, the future is difficult to decipher, as there are no case histories for doctors to consult and rely upon. Hopefully, he can lead a somewhat normal life but he will never live it as an independent adult.
Jerly will be a toddler until the day he dies.
