Allergy Alert Certain Gluten or Wheat Free Rice Breads

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning people with sensitivities or allergies to wheat proteins not to consume certain gluten or wheat free organic brown and white rice buns or breads.

The Organic White Rice and Organic Brown Rice Breads or Buns (approximately 454 - 605 g) affected by this alert were sold after January 3, 2009 to today from the following stores. Brand Store

There have been reported reactions associated with the consumption of both of these products. Consumption of these products can cause a serious reaction in persons sensitive to gluten or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to wheat proteins. The manufacturer, Harvest Bakery, Richmond Hill, Ontario is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
