Calling it a “law enforcement first”, Newark, Ohio, police arrested a man on suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his motorized bar stool.
Kile Wygle, 28, gave a whole new meaning to going before the bar of justice.
According to the
police report Wygle:
…crashed his bar stool near his Newark home earlier this month and called 911 due to his injuries.
When the officer who responded to the scene asked Wygle what happened, he said:
"I wrecked my bar stool."
Wygle
converted his bar stool from a stationary piece of furniture that sits quietly collecting dust to a homemade riding bar stool by powering it up with a Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engine.
He claimed it would do 40 miles per hour, but at the time he crashed he said he and his bar stool were only doing 20.
A witnesses told police:
…that he spotted someone driving a "strange motorized machine" before the crash.
Police said Wygle failed a series of field sobriety tests and was charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license. Both are misdemeanors.
In its defense the bar stool took a fifth, and was spared being impounded.
