Interesting scientific finds in the fields of flora and fauna have recently been made during a scientific expedition to a remote area in Papua New Guinea.
Scientists have discovered a green frog with enormous eyes, a striped gecko and a jumping spider in Papua New Guinea. The animals had not been previously known to Western scientists.
The researchers of the environmental organisation Conservation International discovered a total of fifty new species during an expedition in July and August. A spokesperson made the announcement on Wednesday.
The jumping spider looks quite terrifying and the green frog’s eyes are of a mega size.
The research team charted more than six hundred species in total. They found new spider species as well as plants, frogs and a gecko that had never been described before.
Conservation International hopes to be able to return to the area for another three expeditions to find out whether there is even more to discover.
