The Fellowship for African Relief says a Sudanese relief worker has been shot and killed in in the western Darfur town of Kongo Haraza.
The country director of the Fellowship for African Relief, Mark Simmons has said his group's manager in Darfur, Adam Khater, was shot Monday night in the western Darfur town of Kongo Haraza.
Apparently, gunmen killed 39-year-old Khater at his home near Sudan's border with Chad.
Since an international court issued an arrest warrant for Sudan's president for war crimes in the region, the tensions in the region have been high..
President Omar al-Bashir responded by expelling 13 international aid agencies from Darfur. On March 12, three foreign aid workers were kidnapped in Darfur and released four days later.
