The United Nations observe World Water Day March 22 with many countries participating in its campaign to create awareness among the people on the importance of water conservation and its impact on our environment.

In Australia, an environmental group asks Australians to participate in the ‘Water Day Challenge’ to get people involved.
The WaterAid’s Challenge:
WaterAid’s Water Challenge asks Australians to show their support for this basic right by limiting their water usage for a day to closely match a family’s usage in Africa or Asia. By doing the challenge you are showing support for our work for increased funding for safe water and water sanitation programs around the world. We’ll also keep you up to date about how else you can be involved in our international campaigns
throughout the year.
In Bangladesh, an NGO Forum on Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation is in progress. The forum is aimed at resolving various water issues in line with WWD.
Addressing this year’s theme “Shared Water – Shared Opportunities” under the purview of ‘Transboundary Water’, NGO Forum plans to observe the Day with due significance in collaboration with the important development partners. Hence, NGO Forum has chalked out different programmes highlighting the significance of the Day. The programmes include National Seminar, Symposium, Rally, Cultural Programme on WatSan, Development & distribution of Poster, Leaflet and so on at Central & Regional level.
In Barbados, an Open Day will take place on March 23 sponsored by Caribbean Institute for Metreoroly and Hydrology:
The staff at the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) will commemorate World Water Day and World Meteorological Day with an Open Day on March 23rd 2009 from 10:00am to 4:00pm at CIMH. The Open Day will expose students and the general public to the fields of Meteorology and Hydrology through a series of displays and presentations by various local scientists and policymakers engaged in both fields.
In Brazil, children will be treated to a shows with relevance to WWD:
We will have theatres groups and a walk in the park, called "Water Trail". The event will open by the Secretary of Environment, Ronaldo Vasconelos, and we are waiting around 500 children
