For twenty years David Blancarte was stuck in a wheel chair after a motorcycle accident at 21 left him a paraplegic. He's walking again because of a Brown Recluse Spider.
For twenty years David had no feelings in his legs. Eight months ago a spider bite sent him to hospital and then rehab where a nurse noticed a muscle spasm.
That spasm was the miracle of life as David's nerves started waking up.
A nurse zapped his legs according to David and he felt it. Five days later he was up and walking.
The Manteca Bulletin reports:
“For someone who was only in his 20s when he became paraplegic, he retained a good attitude—always smiling,” Wilson said. “He has been given back his hope. Thanks to the strong will of ‘Mr. B’ and the drive of our rehab staff, we’ve all had the pleasure of witnessing a true miracle.”
Today the former dancer knows it's not a dream to walk his twin 14-year-old daughters down the aisle someday, it's his reality.
His reality sadly isn't all roses. Blancarte was arrested on a domestic violence warrant on Friday. He's still in jail.
