Three months after the shoe tossing incident, by Muntadhar al-Zaidi, during a press conference by x-President Bush, Iraqi women have labeled al-Zaidi as a heartthrob.
Women of Iraq are captivated with the "shoe tosser", Muntadar al-Zaidi. Three months ago, on
December 14th, during a press conference, al-Zaidi threw his shoes at then President Bush, missing him, when he ducked the flying shoes.
The women of Iraq speak of al-Zaidi as "their Robinhood" and "Muntadar made all our wishes come true." Most Iraqi females approve of his actions, and place him in high regard.
When 20 women were asked about al-Zaidi, they stated, "“Zaidi restored Iraqi women’s dignity," and, “No one dared to face Bush in the whole world, only Muntadar al-Zaidi.”
A 19 year old medical student in her first year in medical school in Iraq said, "“I love Zaidi. I saw him in my dreams twice. The last one was after the trial. He was released, and I went to congratulate him and shake my hand with him.”
Interestingly, Iraqi men have been divided about the shoe-throwing gesture. But the women, in restaurants, coffee shops, and beauty shops, are smitten with Muntadar al-Zaidi, and consider him gallant and desirable. One 19 year old female said, "Every Iraqi wanted to beat Bush,” she said. “Muntadar made our wishes come true.”
Muntadhar al-Zaidi was sentenced to three years in prison for the incident.
