The military has hopes for a new tool for the battlefield, the Big Dog robot. It isn't a gun toting superhero though like in Terminator, more like a pack mule that buzzes.
One of the uses for the Big Dog is to tote soldier's packs through inhospitable terrain and war zones. Made by Boston Dynamics the robot features the most advanced robotics of today if the prototype is any indication.
The robot has four human-like legs. The difference with these legs and a humans though, the Big Dog does not fall down and stay down.
Soldiers may one day run along side their company Big Dog carrying those heavy packs.
Still in the trial stage the United States Army is hopeful of future real-life combat scenarios.
