David Malakoff is accused of possessing the illegal material between April and June of last year. He was named in a felony criminal information filed Tuesday in Washington D.C..
There are few details on the crimes that 46-year-old Malakoff is being charged with. It is being speculated that the files of online porn was kept in his office and not at his home.
The
document states the David Malakoff did unlawfully and knowingly possess child pornography that had been mailed, shipped and transported as interstate commerce, by any means, including by computer.
Prosecutors say that
Malakoff faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000. He has yet to make his first court appearance, which has not been scheduled.
Because Malakoff was charged by information it indicates that a plea agreement may have already have taken place. A charge of information can only happen if a person waives the right for a grand jury to hear evidence.
