After four years of the Bush Sr. and eight years of his son, with their brand of conservatism, now there is more. Governor Crist has been working in a bi-partisan way that Floridians support, but there’s one Bush opposing Crist now.
That’s the son of Jeb Bush, George P. Bush. Wonder if his uncle George W. Bush, will take a swipe at Obama now that the former President is down and out?
As if Obama doesn’t have enough to contend with, now he has Republicans going on television for 15 minutes of fame and more telling those in the party who bolt, or who might, not to take money from the stimulus bill. Perhaps the folks don’t mind if folks lose their homes or their jobs. The Republicans have declared that to take money from the bill those Democrats passed is a blot against the GOP.
The son of former Gov. Jeb Bush and nephew of the latest President, George W. Bush, by the name of George P. Bush, told a gathering of Young Conservatives that Crist should stay true to conservative politics and reject money from the stimulus bill. Appealing to the political middle is a no-no, according to him. He declared after Crist appeared with Obama and maintained support of the stimulus plan,
"That will be on his track record, and people are going to remember
that," Bush said, adding that Crist is running the risk of falling in the "D light" category of the party.
Right around the corner, down a couple states and around the corner rests Louisiana. The young Bush has a friend in Governor Jindal who, philosophically, doesn’t agree with taking money from the stimulus plan either, even for the unemployed.
South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford at first thought to refuse the money as well. It appears, however, that this loyal GOP follower in the South may have those who disagree with him in his home state. Some are looking at funds for infrastructure but considering refusing other money. Therefore South Carolina may refuse some funds and take others, according to reports.
The states will each be able to decide on whether to take the money or not, but Republican Schwarzeneggar says he knows reality now and will take whatever money he can get, of the shares that other Republican Governors don’t want.
Wonder if any of Schwarzeneggar’s children disagree with his interest in taking money from the stimulus plan. Katherine Eunice Shriver Schwarzenegger, turning 20 at the end of this year, is the daughter of two strong personalities, her father, Arnold, and her mother, Maria Shriver, of the liberal Kennedy Democrats, and might just say something different than the Bush lad at the opposite end of the country. Wonder as well if Barbara Bush, loyal grandmother, is applauding her grandson George P or staying home and away from the fray for now.
