Oscar bosses have hired a professional gatecrasher to help plug the gaps in the security for this weekend’s ceremony. Former actor, Scott Weiss has gate-crashed many events including the Golden Globes, Emmy's, Grammies and even last year’s Oscars.
Last year, Mr Weiss’ gate crashing of the Oscars was filmed for a guerrilla documentary film called The Crasher. Mr Weiss used Photoshop on his laptop together with a portable laptop to mock up fake security passes to gain entry. If Mr Weiss had been caught he could have been charged with criminal trespassing.
Every security guard has been briefed by Mr Weiss and they have all watched the film, Crasher in an attempt to prevent others from breaching the security this year.
Mr Weiss told the Los Angeles Times:
"If you dress the part and put on an air that you belong there - and that you don't really have time to be stopped by anyone -- people are generally very polite"
"People in security don't want to offend big shots. If you look like one, they won't bother you."
He went on to say:
"That's the whole flaw in the system: the human touch."
