When Mickey Rourke won his Golden Globe for The Wrestler, he made sure he thanked Loki, his beloved chihuahua and his other pets. That best friend passed away Monday night.
Loki went to the Venice Film Festival in September to watch the premiere of The Wrestler.
The Telegraph quotes Rourke:
"Loki is the love of my life," he explained at the time, adding: "My dog is very old and she is not going to be around for long so I want to spend every moment with her."
Rourke has credited Loki's father Beau Jack with saving his life when he hit rock bottom. When Beau Jack died in 2002 Rourke performed CPR in an effort to save him. He then took Beau Jack to a church for a blessing.
Loki's photo will likely be placed on the shrine that Rourke keeps in his Greenwich Village home for his chihuahuas that have passed on. Their photos are surrounded by candles and rosary beads.
