In Madagascar,
the government troops continue fighting anti-government protesters in various parts in its capital city. Police reportedly used tear gas while responding to the stone pelting by the protesters. The reports have pointed out that an opposition leader was trying to force out the president and the violence had been a result for that. Further the reports say that no casualties were immediately reported.
According to news reports the latest bout of violence began with a protest called by opposition leader Mr. Andry Rajoelina. The reports clarified that about 3,000 people gathered to march on government buildings following an alleged vow from Rajoelina, stating that his supporters would hold sit-ins outside ministries. The 'sit-in' was reportedly planned till their ministers take possession of the offices.
The opposition leader further accuses the president of misspending funds. He reportedly stated that the president was responsible for the deaths of at least 25 civilians killed by police firing during an earlier protest.
As the security forces barred the protesters from leaving the square, the opposition leader asked most of the crowd for staying behind. He then reportedly stated that a delegation would proceed to just two nearby ministries. He further added, as said by the reports, that he did not want sacrificing the lives of his supporters. Soon after the delegation returned while stating that, it had found the ministries' doors locked.
