Twitter users yesterday posted pictures and updates about two air crashes before the press caught on, it has today emerged.
When a New York flight crashed yesterday, killing all 50 passengers on board, Twitter users who had witnessed the crash immediately posted updates on to the popular micro blogging and update service.
Shortly after, the press followed suit, and contacted many of the Twittering eye witnesses for quotes and pictures.
At around 21:00, Twitter proved its worth once again, when a user posted pictures of a London aeroplane evacuation, which thankfully had no fatalities.
Tom Jordan, a student, told us that staff in the London City Airport were remaining quiet about the incident, and telling commuters to quickly leave.
