If you’re a fan of the Obamas, don’t forget to buy this year’s Spring edition of ‘Vogue’. First Lady of the US, Michelle Obama, wearing a Jason Wu magenta silk outfit, is the cover girl.
It’s only the second time that a Presidential wife has been featured on the cover of ‘Vogue’, the first being Hillary Clinton in 1998. Michelle Obama’s style and choice of clothes for herself and her family has been under scrutiny, as is to be expected. She is aware of this and in an interview to the magazine stated candidly, “I'm not going to pretend that I don't care about it. But I also have to be practical.” On the inauguration day of her husband’s presidency too, Michelle Obama wore a shimmering white ballgown designed by the 26 year old Wu.
The Vogue shoot took place at the Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington D.C. and the photographer was Annie Leibovitz. The Obamas had reportedly stayed there before the inauguration. The inside pages also feature Michelle Obama wearing outfits from her own wardrobe. Vogue editors were pleasantly surprised to see the First Lady “so serene and secure in her personal style."
