Apple's Steve Wozniak to appear on Dancing with the Stars

By David Silverberg     Feb 9, 2009 in Entertainment
On the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak will break out his dancing shoes to waltz onto primetime TV. Joining him on the new season of the reality show is hiphop star Lil' Kim, actor Denise Richards and Steve-O.
The reality-based dancing show on ABC Dancing with the Stars will give viewers another wide selection of celebs to vote for, from a tech innovator to a hip-hop legend to a Hall of Fame football star.
Set to air on March 9 with a two-hour premiere, Dancing with the Stars' eighth season will mark the primetime dancing debut of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. The inventor behind Apple's product line will be paired with a professional dancer in a reality show where viewers cast their votes for their favourite pair.
In 1987, "the Woz" (as he's affectionately known) ended his full-time employment at Apple. But he remains a shareholder and maintains contact with CEO Steve Jobs.
Wozniak is also making news for becoming the chief scientist at Fusion-io, a three-year-old company in Salt Lake City that manufactures a module enabling computers to quickly retrieve stored data.
In other Dancing with the Stars news, Wozniak joins a wide array of celebs (and C-listers) who will try to waltz for votes: actors David Alan Grier and Denise Richards, Jackass star Steve-O, hip-hop rapper Lil' Kim, singer Jewel, Olympic athlete Shawn Johnson, football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, and rodeo athlete Ty Murray.
The two-hour premiere will air on ABC on March 9 at 8pm ET.
