Google is going places with the launch of Google Earth 5.0. New additional functionalities are making the service even more exciting.
On the new edition of the digital world map users will be able to look underwater and even view the planet Mars.
The new version of Google Earth will enable users to view underneath the surface of the oceans.
There is a 3D-underwater world where those who are interested can look at the ocean floor and view shipwrecks up close.
While looking at the pictures one can find out more information about the different sites by using photo and video footage.
Another new functionality is the time travel component. Google offers the user the means to call up historic footage to view situations in another time period.
The search engine giant uses old satellite and aerial photographs for this application.
In Earth 5.0 it is possible to embark on a tour through a certain area and share the route with family and friends.
Another possibility is a trip to Mars. There are high resolution images and animations of the red planet’s terrain in 3D.
Already, the software gathering geographical information has been downloaded five hundred million times.
