It was hard to tell who might get the most attention on Saturday night Palin or Obama, but there was Sarah Palin all decked out in black satin, likely getting the guys in the front all lathered up since she was said to look swell.
The dinner Saturday night is the exclusive, annual Alfalfa Dinner that allowed President Barack Obama, as the head speaker, to make a few jokes, as is part of his political speaking ability.
At this one he had an opportunity to crack a few about his Chief of State, Rahm Emanuel. President Obama quipped, “It was actually Rahm’s idea to do the swearing-in ceremony again,” he said. “Of course, for Rahm, every day is a swearing-in ceremony.”
“Rahm Emanuel is a real sweetheart,” Obama continued. “Every week the guy takes a little time away to give back to the community. Just last week he was at a local school, teaching profanity to poor children.”
Palin was in Washington as part of an effort to launch her own political action committee that some speculate has to do with her preliminary efforts to develop a platform for the Presidency.
Her committee is called, unsurprisingly, SarahPAC. ,
Folks in the media and those at the dinner were said to be interested in what may have transpired when Palin and Obama crossed paths. Palin had taken some real
potshots during the Presidential campaign, during her run for the Vice Presidency with John McCain. It likely made for awkward moments for both.
