It is official that Hillary Rodham Clinton is now the new United States Secretary of State. She has received overwhelming support from the U.S. Senate.
Today at about 4:45 P.M. EST, Hillary Rodham
Clinton has been officially confirmed by the United States Senate as the Secretary of State under the administration of US President Barack Obama. So far, Clinton has received massive support from her colleagues in the US Senate.
However, some Senate Republicans raised concerns about the work of fundraising work overseas by her husband, former US President Bill Clinton. Yesterday, GOP Senator John
Cornyn of Texas was the lone Republican to voice opposition to Clinton’s confirmation. He moved to block the confirmation.
But it looks like it did Cornyn no good at all. Clinton has been confirmed.
Both Senate Republicans and Democrats feel that a quick confirmation will allow the Obama administration to tackle the various international problems. There are many major international problems that Obama and his administration must deal with.
Earlier today, Obama’s GOP rival in the Presidential Elections Senator John
McCain of Arizona gave his support for Clinton. McCain told other GOP Senators to let Obama get to work.
Now here comes the question: Who will fill Clinton's vacated US Senate seat?
