Many prefer to download YouTube videos either to their computer or their iPod, iPhone, and other handheld players. Recently, they had to use other tools or sites to download YouTube videos, but now YouTube has added download links in selected videos.
There are hundred of sites and tools to download YouTube videos to your computer for later viewing without an Internet connection. But most of them are not legal or have copyright permission from the video owners.
Now, YouTube is
providing download links directly in some of their videos. You can download high-definition videos by clicking the download link available below the video. Not all videos have them available yet; it depends on whether the owners permit the download or not.
But for those that are available, you can download high-quality videos in MP4 (H264 with AAC audio) format. The Google Video site has provided this feature for a long time but only for videos available at its site. Before, you downloaded videos from Google Video in iPod/PSP formats.
YouTube has provided the following
terms of use for the downloadable videos. You can access the user-submitted videos for streaming purposes only:
"Streaming" means a contemporaneous digital transmission of an audiovisual work via the Internet from the YouTube Service to a user's device in such a manner that the data is intended for real-time viewing and not intended to be copied, stored, permanently downloaded, or redistributed by the user. Accessing User Videos for any purpose or in any manner other than Streaming is expressly prohibited. User Videos are made available "as is."
One of the initial videos that are available for downloads are the videos from Barack Obama’s YouTube channel
ChangeDotGov. Each of their videos has a download link to the left of the screen as shown below.
