Scientists have found that the wealthier the man is, the more frequently his partner has orgasms. They believe that this “evolutionary adaptation” is programmed into women which drive them to be “gold diggers.”
Newcastle University, Psychologist, Dr Thomas Pollet, who is behind this controversial research told The Times: “Women’s orgasm frequency increases with the income of their partner.”
There has been a lot of research into the female orgasm since it does not have any reproductive purpose - women can become pregnant regardless of their pleasure levels. This research fits into a body of research known as evolutionary psychology that suggests that both men and women are genetically programmed to exploit each other so they can achieve the best chances of survival for their genes. However, Pollet, and his co-author, Professor Daniel Nettle, believe that the female orgasm is an evolutionary adaptation which drives woman to choose and retain high quality partners.
Pollet and Nettle used the data from a Chinese survey for the basis of this research. 5,000 people were targeted across China for in-depth interviews about their personal lives which included questions about their income and sex lives. From the people interviewed, 1,534 were women with male partners and this was data used in this research. The survey revealed that of these women, 121 always had orgasms during sex, 408 had them “often”, 762 “sometimes” and 243 “rarely” had them. Although many factors are involved in the differences, money is considered one of the main ones.
Mr Pollet told The Times: “Increasing partner income had a highly positive effect on women’s self-reported frequency of orgasm. More desirable mates cause women to experience more orgasms.”
Previous research in America and Germany has found many attributes such as attractiveness are linked with orgasm frequency.
