476,500 Siemens and Bosch dishwashers recalled over fire concerns

After 51 reported incidents, including 30 reports of fires, dishwashers from Siemens and Bosch are being recalled. Bosch and Siemens are working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to voluntarily recall 476,500 units.
The manufacturer is BSH Home Appliances Corporation of Huntingdon Beach, Calif, United States.
The 51 reported incidents include 30 reports of fires causing property damage but no injuries, reports the CPSC. The appliances were sold from May 1999 to December 2006 from $550 to $1,100 each at major retail outlets countrywide.
Consumers are urged to stop using the listed model dishwashers and contact the repair hotline for a free repair at BSH Home Appliances at (800) 856-9226 any time or visit the brand's Web sites at Bosch or Siemens .
Description: This recall involves certain Bosch and Siemens dishwashers manufactured from May 1999 through July 2005. The brand name is printed on the dishwasher's front control panel, see picture below. Model and serials numbers are located inside the dishwasher door panel on the upper right side.
